Apple has released the Apple Vision Pro Developer Strap, an accessory for registered Apple Developers that replaces the right Audio Strap and allows a USB-C connection between the Apple Vision Pro and Mac, enabling faster development of graphics-intensive apps and games. The strap also facilitates direct video feed capture and file transfers, improves Mac Virtual Display stability, and enables downgrading of visionOS. However, it does not provide power via its USB-C connection and has limitations in capabilities, making it primarily suitable for developers.
Apple has introduced a new "Developer Strap" accessory for the Vision Pro, adding a USB-C port to the device aimed at developers to accelerate the development of graphics-intensive apps and games. Priced at $299 and available only through the Apple Developer website, the strap also includes a built-in speaker and is currently only available for developer accounts registered in the U.S. Additionally, Apple has announced that Vision Pro demos will be available at Apple Stores in the U.S., with plans to expand to other countries later this year.
The Apple Vision Pro headset was spotted with a mysterious USB-C adapter in a video aimed at developers. The adapter was connected to the strap on the right side of the headset, and it is unclear if it will ship with the headset, be sold separately, or is only intended for developers. The left side of the Vision Pro is where the external battery pack is attached, so adding a multi-use adapter on the other side may be Apple’s only viable option for increasing connectivity for the device. The headset is expected to hit shelves in early 2024, and the company is only expected to produce a few hundred thousand units.
