The PGA Tour's move to an "elevated-event" schedule with larger purses and deeper fields has led to player fatigue, with top players required to commit to playing 20 events. Jordan Spieth, who played eight out of 10 weeks leading up to the Masters, expressed exhaustion and the need to change his schedule. The Tour will have fewer designated events next year and is reworking its schedule to create "mini-swings" to avoid designated event fatigue. However, without mandatory requirements, it remains to be seen if the Tour can guarantee fields for elevated events or if more players will bypass them for rest.
