ASUS Refines ROG Matrix RTX 5090 Cooling With New Liquid Metal Application

ASUS reportedly updated the liquid metal and thermal paste application on the ROG Matrix RTX 5090 Limited Edition to address a cooling-related issue, with overclocker Der8auer observing a new, more controlled layout that keeps liquid metal on the IHS while using thermal paste barriers. Early testing indicates the revised card runs cooler under heavy load (roughly 70–72°C) at higher power draw, suggesting a modest thermal improvement over earlier samples.

"Intel's Maingear-approved Core i9-14900KS hits record-breaking 9.1GHz with liquid helium cooling"

Intel is collaborating with select PC makers to offer warranty-backed systems featuring delidded Core i9-14900KS processors, with Maingear being among the first partners to offer this option. Customers are expected to pay an additional $200 for the delidded edition on top of the steep Core i9-14900KS build option price. Overclocker der8auer commented on this move and expressed hope for "normal consumers" to access approved delidded chips for DIY projects. Intel's delidded warranty coverage is welcomed, and der8auer plans to upload a video concentrating on delidding the 14900KS sample(s) and checking the impacts on overclocking, performance, and temperatures.

"Revolutionary Water Block Cools AMD Ryzen 7000 by Up to 28 Degrees"

Der8auer has designed a new AMD Ryzen 7000 Direct-Die Water-Block that rests directly on the die, offering optimal thermal performance results compared to all-in-one (AIO) liquid coolers. The new cooling solution requires users to remove the AMD Ryzen IHS to achieve optimal contact with the processor and allow for the best thermal control. The Mycro Direct Die cooling block offers much better cooling versus other solutions on the AMD Ryzen 7000 CPUs, with a 28-degree reduction compared to the stock liquid cooling solution. The cooling solution is expected to sell for €100.
