"Arduboy Welcomes Wolfenstein 3D Clone for Thrilling Debut"

WolfenduinoFX, a demake of Wolfenstein 3D, has made its debut on the Arduboy handheld gaming system. Developed by leveraging the extended flash memory offered by the Arduboy FX upgrade, the game features 10 levels based on the original game's shareware release, with enemies, weapons, and secret rooms recreated for the Arduboy's display. The Arduboy FX allows the handheld to hold hundreds of games by loading them from an SPI flash chip, marking a new era for the Arduboy.

Vince Weaver, an associate professor at the University of Maine, has created a "demake" of the iconic game Myst for the Atari 2600, a console released in 1977 with limited capabilities. Weaver's project aims to adapt the graphically-rich game to fit the older hardware, presenting a unique challenge. While he doesn't plan to port the entire game, he wants to create enough puzzles to make it a "real" game. Weaver's demake showcases the evolution of gaming technology over the past 30 years.

CDi Zelda Game Revived as Game Boy Demake

A fan has created a Game Boy demake of the CD-i flop Zelda's Adventure, which is widely considered the worst Zelda game ever released. Developed over 14 months, the game is a complete port of the original and includes music composed by Beatscribe. The fan game is available to play on a Game Boy emulator or in-browser, and is probably the best way to experience the odd and barely remembered piece of Nintendo ephemera. The developer has no plans to demake the other two Zelda CD-i games.

Dead Space Demake, a recreation of the opening moments of the 2008 survival-horror shooter Dead Space in the style of a PlayStation 1-era horror game, is available for free download on itch.io. Created by independent game developer Fraser Brumley, the demake is an homage to two separate generations of game design and is every bit as exhilarating and mildly terrifying to play as the original 2008 version of Dead Space or its 2023 current-gen remake.

Play a Fan-Made PS1 Style 'Demake' of Dead Space Now

A fan-made 'demake' of Dead Space, developed by Fraser Brumley, is available for free download on itch.io. The game attempts to show what Dead Space would have looked like if it had been released on the original PlayStation. The demake takes around 10 to 15 minutes to play through and is playable on Windows PCs. Dead Space's remake was released in January to critical acclaim, and EA reportedly started polling fans on whether they would like to see remakes of Dead Space 2 and 3.
