Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania have agreed to build a defensive line of interconnected bunkers along their eastern borders to defend against potential military attacks from Russia and Belarus, in line with decisions made at the 2023 NATO Madrid Summit. The bunkers, costing over €60 million, will support ten troops each and be camouflaged to withstand direct hits and enemy fire. Plans also include tank barriers, minefields, and barbed wire stockpiled nearby for installation when necessary. The nations have also signed a Letter of Intent to procure US HIMARS multiple rocket launchers and other advanced weapons, and to jointly use the weapon systems, while discussions were held on additional support to Ukraine and capability development at the upcoming NATO Washington Summit.
