Yuga Labs Wins Legal Battle Against Bored Ape Yacht Club Copycats.
Yuga Labs, the company behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT collection, has won a partial summary judgment in its case against Ryder Ripps and Jeremy Cahen, the duo behind the RR/BAYC NFT collection. The court found that the defendants used the BAYC marks to sell RR/BAYC NFTs without Yuga Labs' consent and in a “manner likely to cause confusion”. The court also determined that the defendants engaged in cybersquatting and had a malicious intent to profit. The determination of damages will be made during a pending trial.
