China's Crackdown on AirDrop and Bluetooth File Sharing

The Chinese government plans to introduce legislation to clamp down on the use of AirDrop and similar Bluetooth-enabled file-sharing features on Android. The Cyberspace Administration of China has issued a draft proposal that would oblige Apple to ensure that people use their real names for the name of their iPhone. The short-range nature of AirDrop means that there’s no way to monitor what is transmitted, and protestors in Hong Kong made extensive use of it to share details of planned protests and other anti-government materials. China tightens regulations on AI products and virtual romance fuels AI revolution.

China's internet regulator has released a draft law requiring all new AI products developed in the country to undergo a "security assessment" before being released to the public. The law aims to ensure the "healthy development and standardised application of generative AI technology" and mandates that AI-generated content must reflect "core socialist values" and not contain "terrorist or extremist propaganda" or "ethnic hatred". The Cyberspace Administration of China is seeking public input on the regulations, which are expected to become law under Beijing's centralised political system.
