Taco Bell fined $85,000 for gift card redemption issues.

Taco Bell has been ordered to pay $85,000 for violating a California law that requires companies to cash out gift cards worth $10 or less if customers choose not to use the remaining balance. The fast food chain was accused of refusing to honor gift cards with a value of less than $10. As part of the settlement, Taco Bell will pay $45,000 in penalties, $35,000 in investigation fees, and $10,000 to the California Consumer Protection Prosecution Trust Fund. The company will also be required to display notices in stores about customer rights and provide steps on how to redeem gift cards.
