Tragic Mexico Truck Accident Claims Lives of 10 Cuban Migrants
At least 10 Cuban migrants died and 17 others were injured when the truck they were traveling in overturned in southern Mexico. The truck was "irregularly" transporting 27 Cuban nationals when the accident occurred, and initial reports suggest that the driver had been speeding and fled the scene after the incident. The victims included a minor, and all the injured are receiving medical treatment. The Mexican authorities will coordinate with consular authorities for the repatriation of the bodies and monitor the health status of the seriously injured. Migrants from Central America and the Caribbean often travel through Mexico in hopes of reaching the United States.
