The US Open at Los Angeles Country Club has limited crowds due to a small footprint in the rotation of US Open courses, with only 22,000 tickets allotted, the majority of which went to corporates and club members. The course is magnificent, but the small crowd means there is little noise, and the U.S. Open champion will be crowned on Sunday afternoon with few people able to say they were there. The USGA is contemplating a plan to allow spectators to line the 18th fairway well back of the green, but the barranca running through LACC and a few of the bridges over it create pinch points that keep the gallery some hundreds of yards from the green.

Many of the competitors have never played the storied North Course, including Patrick Reed, the 2018 Masters champion. The course is measured at 7,421 yards for this major championship, including five par-three holes that range from 300 yards to the 78-yard 15th, which will be the shortest hole in U.S. Open history.

Thomas and features a mix of par fives, par fours, and par threes, with the first hole being a relatively easier par five. The course has a lot of right in front of you, but you still have to play your ball. The defining characteristic of the green that runs away from you is the bunker that protects all of the front hole locations.
