Valve has officially launched Counter-Strike 2, a major free update to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, on PC via Steam. Running on Source Engine 2, the game provides a graphical facelift to the popular first-person shooter while introducing upgrades and redesigns to the maps. Valve's Source 2 hints at Counter-Strike 2 and Left 4 Dead 3 releases.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has added support for Source 2, Valve's newer iteration of the Source engine, to its pre-release branch version, hinting at a possible future for the game powered by Source 2. The game is rumored to be sent to Source 2 in the coming months, with a beta version possibly available in March. The new version of the game is expected to have 128 tick servers and an improved matchmaking system.
