Eovaldi Declines Option, Becomes Free Agent; Mets and Braves Interested
Nathan Eovaldi, a two-time All-Star pitcher, has become a free agent after declining a $20 million player option with the Texas Rangers, opting instead for a $2 million buyout. Eovaldi, who played a key role in the Rangers' 2023 World Series win, is still a target for re-signing by the team. Meanwhile, the Rangers have also declined a $6.5 million option for reliever Andrew Chafin, making him a free agent. Additionally, Corey Seager is recovering well from his second hernia surgery and is expected to resume normal offseason activities soon.
