Louis de Broglie, a Nobel laureate, initially proposed the pilot wave theory as an alternative to the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics, suggesting that particles are guided by a quantum wave. However, he abandoned the theory due to its implications of non-locality and the abstract nature of the wave, which lacked a clear physical meaning.
