Judge Denies Navarro's Executive Privilege Claim in Jan. 6 Committee Defiance
A federal judge has rejected former White House adviser Peter Navarro's claim that former President Donald Trump asserted executive privilege to block him from testifying before the House Jan. 6 select committee. The ruling allows Navarro's contempt-of-Congress trial to proceed, where he faces charges for defying the committee's subpoena related to his role in Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election. The judge cited Trump's refusal to corroborate Navarro's claims as the main reason for rejecting the executive privilege argument. Navarro will not be able to argue to the jury that he believed Trump asserted privilege, and the committee had indicated it planned to ask him questions unrelated to his communications with Trump.
