Researchers have developed a soft, flexible material with "adaptive durability" that becomes stronger when hit or stretched, making it ideal for wearables and medical sensors. Inspired by a cornstarch slurry, the material conducts electricity and is made of a combination of polymers, with preliminary results indicating that adding positively charged nanoparticles makes it even tougher. The team aims to demonstrate the applicability of the material in soft wearables, flexible electronics for health monitoring, and 3D printing for personalized electronic prosthetics.
