"Governor approves $500M upgrade for Brewers stadium in Wisconsin"
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has signed a bill that allocates $500 million in taxpayer money over the next three decades to help the Milwaukee Brewers upgrade their baseball stadium. The bipartisan package aims to address the extensive renovation needs of the 22-year-old stadium, including replacing glass outfield doors, seats, and concourses, upgrading luxury suites and the video scoreboard, and improving the retractable roof, fire suppression systems, parking lots, elevators, and escalators. The Brewers will contribute $110 million and extend their lease until 2050, while the city of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County will contribute a combined $135 million. The legislation also imposes surcharges on non-baseball events at the stadium to generate additional revenue.
