The Lingering Mental Stress of the COVID-19 Pandemic in America
A new survey conducted by the American Psychological Association (APA) suggests that the US population is still experiencing "collective trauma" nearly four years into the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey revealed that adults between the ages of 35 and 44 reported the highest increase in chronic health conditions and mental health illnesses, particularly anxiety and depression. Despite this, many adults reported their physical and mental health as "good, very good, or excellent." Financial and economic issues also rose for this age group, along with increased stress levels among parents. The survey highlights the ongoing psychological distress caused by the pandemic and the need for support and intervention to address the resulting health challenges.
