
Los Angeles Loses Historic Restaurants in a Tough Week
Cole’s French Dip, a historic 117-year-old restaurant in downtown Los Angeles and the birthplace of the French Dip sandwich, is closing permanently due to economic challenges including the pandemic, rising costs, and crime. The closure marks the end of an era for a beloved local institution, with other longstanding eateries like Langer’s expressing sadness and solidarity. The restaurant will serve its last meals on August 3, 2024.
