Biden administration invests in clean energy for coal communities at home and abroad.
The Biden Administration has approved $450 million for clean energy projects near coal mines in the US, with at least two of the five renewable projects going towards solar farms. Developers of clean energy projects will also be eligible for bonuses and tax credits to incentivize more clean energy investment in energy communities, particularly coal communities. The Administration is pushing the narrative that coal country has both the infrastructure and the people to fulfill renewable projects. Application for the renewable funds are due by the end of August, with decisions on who will get the funds expected in early 2024.
