Avett Brothers' 'Swept Away' Musical to Close on Broadway
The Avett Brothers musical "Swept Away" will close on Broadway on December 15 after struggling at the box office since its opening on November 19. Despite a cast of 16 and a creative team led by director Michael Mayer, the show failed to generate sufficient revenue, grossing only $412,182.30 during the Thanksgiving week. The musical, which tells the story of four survivors of an 1888 shipwreck, will have played 20 previews and 32 regular performances by its closing date. A Broadway cast recording is set for release in 2025.
