"FEMA's $3 Billion Boost for Climate Resiliency Amidst Congressional Deadline"

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced nearly $3 billion in funding for communities to build resiliency against climate change-fueled extreme weather. The money, which comes from Congress's bipartisan infrastructure law, aims to help make communities more resilient to the impacts of a warming planet. However, FEMA's disaster relief fund is running dangerously low, and Congress needs to approve additional funding to prevent the agency from falling into the red. The resiliency funding will support projects such as strengthening the grid, upgrading dams, and mitigating flooding. FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell emphasized the importance of investing in resilience, stating that every dollar spent on resilience saves $6 in response and recovery costs.
