Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who has a media empire that made him a billionaire, has been suffering from chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia (CML) for some time and is currently in intensive care for a lung infection, according to his doctors. CML affects white blood cells and cannot be cured in most cases. Berlusconi's health has deteriorated in recent years, and he has had heart surgery, prostate cancer, and has been repeatedly admitted to hospital since contracting COVID-19 in 2020.
