Judge Allows Nashville Parents to Intervene in Release of Shooter's Writings

Parents of about 100 families will be allowed to argue against the release of journals and writings left behind by the assailant who killed six people at a Christian school in Nashville in March. The decision does not resolve the question of whether and how to publish the writings of a mass shooter, but the judge's order allows those most directly affected by the shooting an opportunity to make their case in court as victims and survivors. The judge also allowed the Covenant School and the Covenant Presbyterian Church to intervene, finding that both institutions had “a sufficient personal stake” to warrant the opportunity to argue over the release of the writings.

Nashville Police to Release Christian School Shooter's Manifesto

Nashville police will release a manifesto recovered from the car of Audrey Elizabeth Hale, the 28-year-old transgender former student who killed three 9-year-olds and three adults at a Christian elementary school last month. The manifesto is being reviewed for public release, and a specific time frame for the release has not yet been announced. Police also seized journals on other school shootings, hand-drawn maps of the school, firearms training notes, and a trove of documents and electronic devices from Hale's parents' house. The investigation is ongoing, and a motive has not yet been determined.

Controversy Surrounding Nashville Shooting and Trans Community.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre faced backlash for claiming the trans community is "under attack" following the Christian school shooting in Tennessee. "Outnumbered" co-hosts criticized Jean-Pierre's remarks, stating that the focus should be on the Christian victims of the attack. They also argued that the "hateful bills" are designed to protect the freedoms of Christians and Americans, and that the lack of information about the motive behind the shooting is concerning. Republicans like Sen. Marsha Blackburn's efforts to provide funding for school resource officers are going "nowhere" under the Biden administration.
