New York State Collaborates with Tech Giants for $10 Billion Chip Research Complex
New York state is partnering with IBM and Micron Technology to invest $10 billion in a chip research facility at the University of Albany. The facility, expected to be completed in 2026, will house advanced chip-making equipment from ASML Holding. The project aims to advance next-generation chip manufacturing and reduce America's reliance on imported chips. The investment is part of the $53 billion Chips Act initiated by the Commerce Department. The facility is predicted to create 700 new jobs and bring in at least $9 billion in private money.
