Montrell Goss, a Portland children's book author known for promoting courage and inclusivity, was fatally shot after an argument inside a Southeast Portland bar. The 37-year-old allegedly retrieved a gun from his car and confronted the man he was arguing with, who then shot him. The incident is under police investigation.
Kouri Richins, a Utah children's book author accused of murdering her husband, allegedly took out nearly $2 million in life insurance policies on him prior to his death. Eric Richins' family told authorities he had been in fear for his life after Kouri allegedly tried to poison him once several years ago in Greece and again on Valentine's Day 2022. Kouri is accused of poisoning Eric with a Moscow Mule spiked with fentanyl while they were celebrating a home sale on March 3, 2022. She allegedly closed a deal on a $2 million mansion alone the next day and hosted a party at her home.
