"Revolutionary Gel Shows Promise in Treating Pelvic Floor Damage: Study"
A new injectable gel has shown promise in repairing pelvic floor damage caused by childbirth, according to an early study in rats and human tissue. Pelvic floor disorders, which affect 25% of women in the US, currently have limited treatment options. The gel, made from pig muscle tissue, forms a structure that resembles normal muscle when injected into the damaged area. It promotes muscle repair and healing by attracting immune cells. While the gel has only been tested in rats so far, further studies are needed to determine its safety and efficacy in humans.
