GM Halts Chevy Bolt Production, Laying Off 1,314 Michigan Workers
General Motors is laying off 1,314 workers, including those at the Michigan plant that produces the discontinued Chevy Bolt EV. The company plans to cut jobs due to the end of Bolt EV production and the delayed launch of the Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV. GM is bringing back the Bolt EUV in 2025 on its Ultium platform. The layoffs come after GM finalized a new contract with the United Auto Workers, which includes restructuring and wage increases for workers.
