Zawyer Sports & Entertainment has acquired a controlling interest in the Charlotte Checkers, with Michael Kahn remaining as the largest minority partner. The Charlotte Checkers have released their schedule for the 2023-24 AHL season, which includes games against teams from California for the first time since 2016-17. The Hershey Bears defeated the Charlotte Checkers 6-2 in Game Four of the Calder Cup playoffs, advancing to the third round. After a poor first period, Beck Malenstyn led the Bears to victory with two goals and an assist. Aliaksei Protas scored two goals, including the game-winner, and Sam Anas had two assists. The Bears will face the winner of the Hartford Wolfpack and Providence Bruins’ series.
