Zawyer Sports & Entertainment has acquired a controlling interest in the Charlotte Checkers, with Michael Kahn remaining as the largest minority partner. The team's operations and staff will remain unchanged, and the partnership aims to grow the Checkers' presence in Charlotte. The acquisition has been approved by the AHL Board of Governors, and the Checkers' NHL affiliation with the Florida Panthers will continue.
