Steve Stricker has broken Tiger Woods' record of 52 consecutive rounds under par in PGA Tour-sanctioned events, with a 7-under par 65 at the American Family Insurance Championship. Stricker has finished outside of the top-5 only once in 13 Champions Tour events this season, winning three times, including two majors. Despite never winning a major, Stricker can now claim the record that Woods held for so long.
Don January, who won the 1967 P.G.A. Championship and became one of the early stars on golf’s Senior Tour, winning 22 events in its first decade, died on Sunday at his home in Dallas. He was 93. January won 10 PGA Tour events in 10 different years, most notably the 1967 P.G.A. Championship, when he defeated his fellow Texan Don Massengale by two strokes in a playoff at the Columbine Country Club near Denver. He played on victorious Ryder Cup teams in 1965 and 1977.
Tiger Woods, who is at Augusta National for his 25th appearance at the Masters, acknowledged that he's close to playing his last competitive round at Augusta, saying "I don't know how many more I have in me." Woods has won the Masters five times, with his most recent victory in 2019 at the age of 43.
