Democratic megadonor and top Biden backer Reid Hoffman, who has positioned himself as a centrist fundraiser and ally of President Joe Biden, has been funding groups that have worked against Biden's legislative vision. Protect Democracy, a legal group cofounded by Obama administration alums and funded by Hoffman, filed a brief supporting the Supreme Court's decision to strike down Biden's student debt relief proposal. Hoffman's spending via Mainstream Democrats PAC has also gone towards opposing progressive Democrats in primaries, benefiting conservative House Democrats who have opposed and undermined Biden on key issues.
