Stormy Saturday Forecast for Central Iowa

Widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected in Central Iowa today, with the potential for isolated strong to severe storms in the afternoon and evening. The main threat will be locally heavy rainfall, which could lead to isolated areas of 2-3 inches of rain. The system will track east by Sunday, bringing an end to the showers and transitioning to partly cloudy, warmer, and humid conditions. Winds will become southerly on Monday, bringing hotter temperatures and more moist air. Another storm system is expected late Tuesday into Wednesday, with the potential for severe storms. Cooler temperatures and drier air are expected by the end of next week.
