Super Typhoon Mawar is expected to hit Guam on Wednesday afternoon with deadly winds equivalent to a category 5 hurricane, exceptional storm surge, and torrential rainfall. If it makes a direct landfall, it would be the strongest storm to hit Guam in over 60 years. The island is at risk of extensive damage to buildings, uprooted trees, and power outages. A storm surge up to 25 feet and flash flooding are also expected, with landslides becoming likely as the ground becomes saturated.
