Avalanche Captain Landeskog to Miss 2023-24 Season Due to Knee Surgery and Cartilage Transplant
Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog will undergo a cartilage transplant in his right knee on May 10 and is expected to miss the entire 2023-24 NHL season. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Brian Cole at the Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Landeskog missed the entire 2022-23 season dealing with his cartilage injury, which stemmed from getting cut by Cale Makar’s skate blade in a freak accident in the Edmonton Bubble. Losing Landeskog for another year is a big blow for the Avalanche, as he is an established top-line forward, team captain, and a vital off-ice leader.
