A glitch in T-Mobile's phone unlock system is allowing users to unlock any Samsung smartphone without the typical waiting periods. By requesting a temporary network unlock through the Settings menu, users can then tap the option to permanently unlock their devices, leaving them open to use a SIM from any other carrier. This loophole, likely to be shut down soon, seems to work for recent Galaxy S devices and foldables, providing a useful option for some users.

Osprey Grounding Prompts Calls for Investigation and Support for Fallen Air Force Sgt.

The military-wide grounding of the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft fleet is impacting operations across the services, but the Navy is mitigating the loss by utilizing other options such as C-2A Greyhound aircraft, port calls, and underway replenishments. The carrier-specific CMV-22 variant of the Osprey, which the Navy started using in 2021, is currently only deployed on the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson. The Navy considers the Osprey a critical component of its future air wing and plans to continue adding new platforms and capabilities to its carrier air wings over the next decade.

Honeywell Acquires Carrier Unit for $4.95 Billion, Expanding Building Safety Operations

Honeywell, a U.S. industrial firm, has announced its acquisition of Carrier's security unit for $4.95 billion in cash. The deal will strengthen Honeywell's building safety business, which has experienced slow growth in recent months. The acquisition will provide access to Carrier's brands, including Onity and Supra, and bolster Honeywell's building technologies business. The deal is expected to close before the end of the third quarter of 2024 and will be cash-earnings per share accretive to Honeywell in the first full year of ownership. Carrier intends to use the estimated net proceeds of about $4 billion to pay down debt.
