CWD Detected in Tennessee Deer Harvest
A deer harvested in Lewis County, Tennessee, has tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), prompting changes to feeding and carcass transportation regulations. The positive test result is the first in Lewis County. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) will increase testing and surveillance efforts in the area to monitor the disease. Hunters are encouraged to participate in CWD testing through participating taxidermists and meat processors or by using drop-off freezers. Feeding and carcass transportation restrictions have been implemented to prevent the spread of CWD.
