"San Francisco Firm's Anti-Aging Drug for Dogs Nears FDA Approval"

A San Francisco biotech company called Loyal has announced that its drug LOY-001, which aims to extend the lifespan of large-breed dogs, has cleared early hurdles with the FDA. The drug works by interacting with a hormone called IGF-1 that accelerates the aging process in dogs. Loyal claims that LOY-001 may help slow down age-related processes for dogs weighing 40 pounds or more. The drug is administered by injection every three to six months, with a daily pill in development. Further clinical trials and safety reviews are required before full approval, but Loyal hopes to market the drug for lifespan extension in large-breed dogs by 2026.
