In 2025, Tamron released only two new lenses, focusing mainly on zooms, including a high-quality 16-30mm f/2.8 and a versatile 25-200mm zoom, maintaining its trend of consistent, reasonably priced lens offerings, though with limited new models this year.
Sony has announced the 300mm f/2.8 G Master OSS, the world's lightest large-aperture telephoto prime lens, weighing 1,470 grams and measuring just 10.4 inches long. It promises high resolution, corner-to-corner sharpness, beautiful bokeh, and minimized ghosting and flare. The lens features 20 elements, including one extra-low dispersion element and three super extra-low dispersion elements, to suppress chromatic aberration. It has fast and silent autofocus controlled by XD linear motors, supports up to 30 frames per second shooting, and has customizable focus hold buttons. The lens will be available in February 2024 for $5,999.
