"1960s Practice Bomb from WWII Era Discovered on Santa Cruz Beach"
A second world war-era practice bomb was discovered on a California beach in Santa Cruz county after intense high surf and tides hit the area. The Santa Cruz county sheriff's bomb team and personnel from Travis air force base responded to the scene, determining the device to be an inert Mk15 Mod 2 practice bomb from the 1960s, which was safely removed. The incident highlighted the power of the recent tides, which also led to hospital treatments for eight people and evacuation orders in several coastal towns.
