"WWII-Era Practice Bomb Discovered on Santa Cruz Shoreline"

A World War II-era Navy practice bomb washed up on a California beach at Pajaro Dunes after heavy surf. The Santa Cruz County sheriff's bomb squad, upon inspection, determined it was an inert device with no explosive materials. The bomb, which was weathered and rusty, was safely removed by personnel from Travis Air Force Base and will remain in their possession. The discovery came after the area experienced evacuations due to powerful storms causing high waves along the coast.
