Kaiser Hospital Penalized for Nurse Pinned by MRI Machine
A Kaiser Permanente hospital in California has been fined $18,000 by California OSHA after an MRI machine's magnetic field pulled a metal bed and a nurse, causing serious injuries. The nurse was preparing a patient when she and the bed were thrown towards the open door of the MRI room, resulting in injuries to her pelvis, right leg, and abdomen. The hospital was fined for failing to have a plan to ensure the door between the MRI room and prep area remains closed. Kaiser Permanente has implemented corrective actions and preventive measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
