Bay Area Measles Exposure Tied to Burlingame Panda Express Visit

San Mateo County Health, with Santa Clara County Public Health, announced a travel-related measles case and warned that people who visited Panda Express in Burlingame on Feb. 23–24 between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. may have been exposed. Those at risk—especially the unvaccinated, pregnant, or immunocompromised—should contact a health care provider if symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, or a spreading rash appear; stay home and call ahead before seeking care. Exposed individuals who remain symptom-free for more than 21 days after exposure are no longer at risk. Vaccination remains protective and is widely covered by insurance in California, with two measles cases confirmed in San Mateo County in 2026 (one in 2025).
