Capitol Riot Participant Sentenced to 1 Year in Prison for Occupying Pence's Chair
Bruno Joseph Cua, a high school student from Georgia, has been sentenced to one year in prison for storming the U.S. Capitol, assaulting a police officer, and sitting in a Senate floor chair reserved for the vice president during the January 6th riot. Cua, who was 18 at the time, apologized for his actions and expressed remorse in court. The judge initially considered a longer sentence but ultimately sentenced Cua to one year and one day in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Cua is one of the youngest individuals charged in connection with the Capitol riot, and more than 1,000 people have been charged overall.
