Brav-M: Accused of Brutality in French Pension Protests
France's special Brav-M motorbike unit, which was created to prevent protests from spiralling out of control, has been accused of taking the law into their own hands, intimidating and threatening people, and in some cases, resorting to the use of excessive force during the ongoing pension protests. The unit has come under fire after an audio recording was published in which police officers were heard humiliating and menacing a young man. The incident has been referred to the special police unit for internal investigations. Some lawmakers have called for the temporary dismantlement of Brav-M, but the Paris police chief has insisted that the unit is "an indispensable unit for the maintenance of republican order".
