"Link Between Hormone Medication and Increased Brain Tumor Risk Revealed in French Study"
Prolonged use of certain progestogen hormone drugs, such as medrogestone and medroxyprogesterone acetate, is associated with an increased risk of developing intracranial meningioma, a type of brain tumor. This study is the first to assess the risk associated with progestogens used by millions of women worldwide, and further research is needed to better understand this risk. The study found no excess risk of meningioma for progesterone, dydrogesterone, or hormonal intrauterine systems, but further studies are urgently needed to gain a better understanding of this risk.
