Researchers at NIST/University of Maryland have developed a new framework for constructing quantum codes applicable to bosonic quantum systems, such as photonic resonators. This framework, based on superimposing points on a sphere, aims to protect quantum information against errors and could pave the way for more robust quantum computing systems.
