"Texas Defiance: Border Access Dispute and Tragic Loss"
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton rejected the Biden administration's cease-and-desist letter, stating that the state will continue to defend its territory and lawful efforts in court. The dispute revolves around Texas impeding U.S. Border Patrol access to a section of the U.S.-Mexico border, with DHS officials claiming that Texas officials physically barred Border Patrol agents from entering the area, leading to the drowning of a woman and two children in the Rio Grande. The Biden administration has threatened to involve the Justice Department if Texas continues to deny Border Patrol full access to the area.
