Navy taps Bollinger, Marinette for new Landing Ship Medium in revamped program
The Navy will have Bollinger Shipyards and Fincantieri Marinette Marine build the Marine Corps’ Landing Ship Medium (LSM) under a program overseen by a Vessel Construction Manager. Bollinger will support long-lead procurement and lead-ship design; Marinette will construct four LSMs, with the VCM deciding how the remaining three are awarded. The program shifts to a Dutch LST-100 design after canceling the Constellation-class frigate, aiming to accelerate production and support the Marine Corps’ island-hopping strategy in the Pacific.
