The suspect, DeHart, was later captured and charged with first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, and felon in possession of a weapon. Three others have been charged with aiding DeHart, and a memorial fund has been set up for Deputy McCowan’s family.

Arrest made in fatal hit-and-run crash.

A Knoxville man, Jeremy Shaun Valentine, has been arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with an injury, which is a felony, after being suspected in a deadly hit-and-run in Seymour. The crash happened on May 14, and the victim, Charles R. Clark, died from his injuries on Wednesday. The Blount County Sheriff's Office identified the vehicle, a late model Dodge Ram pick-up truck, and then Valentine as the owner of the vehicle. Deputies arrested Valentine Friday evening and also found his damaged truck at an autobody shop in Knoxville.
