Big League Utah has confirmed meeting with Oakland Athletics officials to discuss bringing the team to Salt Lake City as a temporary home base while their new stadium in Las Vegas is being built. The focus appears to be on the new Daybreak stadium set to open in 2025, rather than Smith's Ballpark. Big League Utah aims to not only host the A's temporarily but also bring a permanent MLB team to northern Utah, playing in a new stadium in the Power District near downtown Salt Lake City.

"Utah's Push for Major League Baseball Franchise Gains Momentum"

The Miller family and Larry H. Miller Company have formed a coalition of Utah leaders to position Salt Lake City as an ideal market for Major League Baseball. Big League Utah, a broad-based community coalition, has targeted a shovel-ready site for a new MLB ballpark at the 100-acre Rocky Mountain Power District on Salt Lake City’s west side. The coalition includes Utah’s federal, state and local decision-makers, business and community leaders, former MLB baseball players and potential investors. While MLB officials have said they aren’t ready to discuss league expansion plans, owners and fans appear to be ready for some new teams.
